How Do We Integrate the Arts?

At Sightline, we interconnect the arts with literature, history and science. Each year revolves around a different theme or historical time period. This year's focus is the Renaissance Period.

An Intertwined Curriculum
Although we have different classes and teachers, each tries to reinforce the ideas taught in the other classes, showing that subjects such as art, music, literature, drama, and even science are all interconnected. This year the classes will study and relate their work to the Renaissance. For example, students will produce and study the art of acting Shakespeare, learn the chemical makeup of the paint used by the Renaissance artists, explore the painting styles and techniques of the Renaissance, perform music from the Renaissance while learning musical notation, and read plays and books that revolve around this time period. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their work and all the elements they have learned throughout the year. The year will culminate in a full length, beautifully realized production by the Performance Class.
Classes are a year long, September to May.  You have the choice to pay in full or monthly.
Students can take just one class or all the classes (a $5.00 per month discount is given for multiple classes).
Sightline Integrated Arts Program meets at The Vineyard Church, 6300 San Mateo Blvd NE Suit F-1 in the Far North Shopping Center on Academy and San Mateo.

Application Packet and InformationAll Classes are on Tuesdays from Sept. 7th-Dec. 7th and Jan. 4th- April 12 (younger)/May 3rd (older) We will break for Thanksgiving and the week before Easter.
Tuition and Fees Information The materials/admin. fees are due at the time of registration. Arrangements can be made to stretch out materials/admin. fees throughout the year if so requested. Tuition is paid on the first Tuesday of each month at $40.00 per student, per class, or can be paid per semester or year. A discount of $5.00 off the monthly fee will be given per sibling who wants to join the program. All siblings that join after the 3rd student in the same family receive free monthly tuition but must pay the one time materials/admin. fee. For example, if one has 4 children in the program, the first three would pay $35 a month per class and the 4th student would be free.
Alternatively, the $5 discount can apply to a single student taking multiple classes (discounts are not cumulative). For example, a student taking all 5 classes would pay $35 per class per month, for a total discount of $175 for the year. Payment can also be received in advance for the full year for $300.00/class or each semester-$140.00 for Fall, $160.00 for Spring.
Students can withdraw from classes at any time, but the tuition charge for that month will not be refunded. All Materials fees are non-refundable, unless a class proves to be full, in which the materials fee will be refunded. Classes are 13 Weeks in the Fall and 15 weeks in the Spring for younger classes, 17 weeks for older.
Homework and Grading Most of the classes will give weekly homework, and students are responsible to have the homework completed by the next class or when it is due. Tests and quizzes will be given in most of the upper grade classes. Students under 13 will not receive a formal grade. See instructor if you wish to arrange for a formal grade. For the high school level classes, students will be graded on their work unless arrangements are made with the teacher beforehand.
Philosophy Sightline teachers partner with homeschool families to create an enriched homeschool experience for each student. At Sightline, we believe that children learn best through immersion and integration. Integrated learning is not only fun, but one of the easiest, fastest and best ways to learn. At Sightline, we interconnect the arts with literature, history and science. Each year will revolve around a different time period or theme. Students will learn core subjects through the lens of the arts. Our instructors plan together so that students can reap the benefits of an integrated program.
Statement of Faith All Sightline teachers profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe in One God, eternally existent in three persons- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the resurrection of Jesus and the salvation of those who profess Him as Lord and Savior. At Sightline, teachers will daily ask students to join them in prayer. Students may also pray for each other. Class discussions will often include Christian Principles from the Bible and discussions about Jesus and God and how they relate to what we are studying or to their own lives.
