FACILITIES USE AGREEMENT
By and among Parent Led Academic Network Team, Inc. (hereafter referred to as PLANT, Inc.) and Independent Teachers shall be effective August 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028.
Background PLANT, Inc has a mission to make disciples for Christ. PLANT, Inc.’s strategy is to encourage Independent Teachers to offer classes for students in K-12 from a Biblical perspective. PLANT, Inc. will provide administrative services to independent teachers and has leased space to allow such teachers the use of classroom space at 11900 Haines Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 Education Building referred to as “PLANT’s Heartwood Learning Center” for the purpose of teaching and instruction.
Purpose The purpose of the agreement is to outline the understanding among and set the parameters of the use by PLANT, Inc. and Independent Teachers.
Building and Time of Use PLANT’s Heartwood Learning Center will make seven rooms at 11900 Haines Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 available on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for the purpose of teaching, mentoring, or tutoring. In addition, Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 – 12:00 will be available for members to organize activities for minors such as study groups or co-ops. Together these are referred to as “Child Learning Hours”. Outside these hours the building will be available for workshops or trainings targeted to the parent educator community that would include families (adults and minors) participating together.
Location fee PLANT, Inc. will add a location fee to class prices equal to $2.50/student/week of class or $2.50/person/hour or partial hour for one-time workshops or trainings.
Scheduling PLANT, Inc. will schedule the use of rooms for teachers. Any other use of building outside the regular classroom needs will be scheduled with the Facilities Steward at [email protected]
Building Access - Teachers will be given access to the building through a keyless entry video intercom system. Teachers must maintain integrity of access and only allow registered participants into the building. Parents of registered students who are not Heartwood members may escort their children to class and pick them up in their classroom but should refrain from hanging around the building or using the restroom.
Name Tags – Teachers will be issued a name tag and will be required to wear the name tag in the building during all Child Learning Hours. Teachers also agree to ask those without a valid name tag to leave the building.
Setup & Maintenance Teachers will be responsible for set up of their own classrooms. Teachers must ensure that messes made during class are cleaned before the next teacher’s class. The last teacher each day will be expected to remove any trash in the classroom, ensure that all lights are turned off and rooms are swept or vacuumed at the conclusion of each day. Teachers are encouraged to enlist the help of students or parent volunteers. If a room is left improperly, please notify the Facilities Steward @ [email protected].
Internet Access Teachers will have access to Wi-Fi internet within the facilities during scheduled class times.
Storage Teachers will be assigned storage space and teachers will be responsible for keeping the storage area neat and organized. Storage should be reasonable for the number of classes offered and should not interfere with other’s use of the classrooms.
Supplies Teachers will provide ALL their own supplies including hand sanitizer, paper towels for cleanup of class messes (art supplies or science experiments, etc.) dry erase makers, paper, and copies. Bathroom supplies such as soap, toilet paper and papers towels will be provided but should not be relied upon for clean-up of classrooms.
Facility Policies Teachers agree to help police and enforce building policies as outlined in the Heartwood Learning Center Handbook.
Relationship with Teachers All teachers will be independent contractors and are not to be considered representatives or employees of PLANT, Inc. or Heartwood Learning Center. PLANT, Inc. Terms of Service will govern the relationship between PLANT, Inc. and the teacher. The PLANT, Terms of Services requires each teacher subscribe to PLANT, Inc. Statement of Faith. The Terms of Service require that teachers abide by the requirements established for the use of the facilities.
Expectations between Teachers, Parents, and Students Expectations of student conduct and behavior, disciplinary actions, and interactions between the teachers and parents will be governed by a release and consent agreement between the teacher and parent. All students must always be in a registered class under supervision of a teacher or with a parent. Self-transporting students may not arrive early or stay after class.
Background checks Each teacher will be required to provide a criminal background check and child abuse registry check. No teacher will be allowed to conduct classes at Heartwood Learning Center without having completed and approved background check within the past two years. Teachers who have not had a background check performed by a third party that can be provided to PLANT, Inc. may solicit a background check through PLANT, Inc. The cost of the background check is $22 payable by the teacher, and it will be delivered to PLANT, Inc. PLANT, Inc. will keep background checks on file.
