Arts and Crafts
Wednesdays
11:00am - 12:00pm
January 11, 2017 - May 10, 2017
Rio Vista Church
Instructor: Katie Laws
Ages 5-12 (must be somewhat trustworthy with a sewing needle and scissors. Safety instructions will be taught).
$60 plus $25 supplies fee ($85 for semester)
Have you ever wanted to make your own stuffed animal or create a paper mache mask?
This arts and crafts class is for all boys and girls who are interested in creating. We will learn several stitching techniques to make small stuffed creatures, do drawings to learn about Pop Art, we will spend several weeks creating paper mache masks, we'll view images of cathedrals and make our own “stained glass windows” and much more! (Think: MineCraft inspired cross stitch, mandalas and EarthArt!)
Each week students will learn a basic skill that they will then apply to creating their own masterpiece! This way students will have vast amounts of creative freedom and won't just be copying a pattern.
Creating art is one way I feel close to our Heavenly Father. He created a beautiful earth for us and I enjoy sharing in the creative process. Whether your student feels they have the innate talent to be creative, or not, this class will help nurture that ability and an appreciation for the beauty in all of God's creations.
Katie Laws received her BS in elementary education in 2008. From private tutoring to teaching occasional co-op classes, she loves creating interesting lessons to inspire students to continue the learning process on their own. Katie has homeschooled her own children for the last 4 years and is excited to share her love of learning with the Albuquerque homeschooling community.
