Do you have a class for....? Browse the current catalog. The '2024-2025' tab allows you to filter classes by day and location. The 'classes by levet' tab gives an idea of classes by age.
What is the registration deadline? The deadline to register is set by each individual teacher and is specified in the "Registration Period" of each listed class. Please do not wait until the last minute to register. If a class is popular it could fill up before the deadline. Registering at the last minute makes it difficult to plan for additional sections, to cancel in time for others to find alternative classes and for the teacher to plan for the size of the class. Please register when you are interested in a class.
My child is younger, older, or somehow different from the target population, can he/she still take the class? Please talk to the teacher if you have any doubts or questions about the appropriateness of a class for your child. In fact, you should talk to the teacher even if your child fits the target population for the class. We encourage parents to 'interview' all teachers before hiring them.
Can I drop my child off or do I, as a parent, have to stay? You as the parent are not required to stay except some teachers may ask parents to rotate different weeks in order to have a second adult in the classroom. However, please DO NOT drop your student off in the parking lot and assume that they arrive safely at their class. Please walk them to and from their class.
What if I sign my child up for multiple classes can I drop them off for the whole time or do I need to pick them up after each class? There is no oversight at our facilities other than the individual teacher who is in the classroom. Students may not be left unattended. When you drop your child off you are entrusting him to the teacher you have hired. If you would like your child to take multiple classes back-to-back please make arrangements with both teachers to transfer supervision of your child from one to another. Students MAY NOT wait unattended at the church between non-consecutive classes.
Are the teachers certified? A certification is a process by which an institution or organization attests that a teacher has a certain set of skills or knowledge. PLANT does not certify teachers nor require them to provide a teaching certificate. We feel a better measure of whether they are equipped to provide the services they are proposing to provide is for parents to interview them and make individual determination as to whether the individual is capable of providing enriching learning activities for your student. You may also wish to review testimonials given by other parents. Teachers teaching at Del Norte Baptist, Redemption Hill, Calvary Chapel Light of the World and AnchorPoint Church are required to undergo a background check and subscribe to our Statement of Faith. Teachers offering classes at other locations are not required to undergo a background check.
Are the teachers qualified? Whether a teacher is qualified or not is a matter of individual opinion. Teachers have a variety of backgrounds and experiences which they bring to their classes. Some have degrees of higher education in the subject matter they teach, some have years of experience, some are teenagers that happen to know more about technology than anyone older than them. We feel the determination of 'qualified' is best left up to the parent to determine. Please do your research to investigate a teacher's qualifications to make your own determination.
Is there a sibling discount? Each teacher is an independent business. Some teachers may offer a sibling discount and others may not. If a sibling discount is available it will automatically be applied at checkout. You should contact the teacher to find out about discounts they may offer.
Is there a multi-class discount? Teachers are independent businesses, they may offer a multi-class discount for taking one or more of their classes. However, there is no multi-class discount for different teachers. Please refer to the SEED Scholarship or Referral Discount for other ways to reduce the cost of classes.
How can I reduce the cost of classes? Register early! Many classes offer an early bird discount for registering before August 1. Take advantage of these discounts! Otherwise, the best way to reduce the cost of classes is to participate! Participating in our fundraising activities helps make funds available for scholarships both for your family and others. You may also earn a referral credit by referring another family that registers for a class. For any family new to PLANT, Inc. that you refer who registers for a class and includes your name in the referred by question, you will receive a $10 family credit. You can also earn class credits by volunteering. Volunteers may serve as on-site coordinators, study hall monitors, lunch monitors, or in other ways.
