A Unit Study of Polar Habitats
Learn about the many amazing creatures that live in the polar regions and explore the scientific significance of these habitats. God's beautiful creation is not divided into separate subjects thus the polar theme is woven into all subjects and skills that you may wish your kindergartner to practice: phonics, math, art, Bible, science and social studies.
We will be using a unit study from Gather Round Homeschool. Two student workbooks are included in the price of registration. Our goal is to complete three lessons per week. Whatever we do not complete in class should be completed at home in the workbook. The workbook is self-explanatory, includes all you need and includes answers. Parents may choose to add the teacher guide so they don't miss out on the learning but it is absolutely NOT necessary to have at home as we will be covering that part in class.
This curriculum is designed to be everything your kindergartner needs. There is no need to do ANYTHING else but if you want to learn more there are lots of resources to extend your learning.

Where are all the Heroes?
Tuesdays 11:30 - 12:30
September 5, 2023 - December 12, 2023
Eric Metaxas laments that we no longer have any heroes. Lawrence W. Reed emphasizes the importance of character for a free society. A hero is an ordinary person who demonstrates strength of mind in regard to danger. They are ordinary men who have done extraordinary things. Thus, they are men (or women) that are worthy of imitation. However, such examples are few and far between for this generation. Our current generation doesn't even understand what it is to be a hero as evidenced by the fact that the dictionary definition of a hero has changed since the early 1800s. Heroes are those that inspire us to do better, to be better, and to pursue greater things.

Faith, Literature and Harry Potter
Wednesdays, 9:00 - 10:25
September 7, 2022 - December 7, 2022
Ages 11+
What is literature? How does it point us to truth? Do stories have the power to transform us? In this class we will explore whether Harry Potter is literature or not. We will compare it to the Bible and other literature such as Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Emma, Shakespeare, Grimm Fairy Tales, and the Arthurian legends. We will explore literary references, narrative structure, use of hero’s journey, characterization, and Christian symbolism as well as references to faith and spiritual transformation and good vs. evil. In doing so, students will be challenged to reflect on their own faith and beliefs and the state of their own spiritual journey. Students are expected to bring a Bible to class.
