There are more reasons rather than just ordering in a Mexican Restaurant… Maybe God is calling you to be a missionary!
About the Class:
Have you ever wanted to walk into a Mexican Restaurant and be able to order confidently? Have you ever wished you understood what others are saying in Spanish? Do you have hopes to become a missionary in another country? How about learning Spanish and jumpstarting your path to understanding and speaking Spanish!
This class will use Spanish for Children curriculum, which focuses on teaching the rules behind the Spanish language, grammar, parts of speech, as well as improving pronunciation. This is great for anyone looking to grow in their Spanish speaking and comprehension ability (even for adults). We will focus on many concepts such as conjugation, tenses, and noun gender. The curriculum is Classical in nature, utilizing chanting and song to aid in memorization. We will go through one or two chapters a week, planning to complete half of the book in the first semester. There will be homework assignments in various levels according to ability level/age.
Students can expect to be able to hold basic conversations in Spanish by the end of this class, within reason, to better equip them to potentially become a missionary to Spanish Speaking communities, and help spread the Gospel, en Español!
About Leah Hopkins:
Leah is a Homeschooling mom of 4 kids ages 4 thru 11. She has a Bachelor’s degree from UNM in Education, Dance, and Spanish. She has a passion for educating children in a way that will inspire them to live for the Lord and put maximum effort into all they do. She is also very passionate about physical fitness and health, currently training as a Ninja Athlete. Her other passions include, sewing, cake decorating, and has coached dance, cheer and gymnastics as well! She just moved to Cedar Crest and hopes to one day have horses as her family dreams of owning and riding horses!
