“Let them eat cake!” “The British are coming!” Do you know the true stories behind these famous quotes?
This history class will be like none other you've attended...unless you've seen a lot of Shakespeare! If you have a student who thinks history is boring OR who enjoys hearing exciting stories and acting them out then this is the class to be in!
Each week students learn the history behind a famous quote or story. We will read books, listen to music and act out stories about famous people, places and events. We will move the class each week in a general time-line of the world, beginning with Adam and Eve. Other highlights will be Noah and the Ark, Ancient Greek/Romans, Vikings, Dark Ages, American Revolution and World War II. Students will be having so much fun they won't realize how much they are learning!
Stories from history have always been my favorite things to learn. Memorizing dates was hard for me, but when I was able to focus on ancient people and the events they lived through I felt an amazing connection to them. I realized that we are all children of God and the emotions and desire of people long ago are the same things I strive for today: peace, freedom, love. This class will help students come to the same realization and help them see God's hand in helping his children.
Katie Laws received her BS in elementary education in 2008. From private tutoring to teaching occasional co-op classes, she loves creating interesting lessons to inspire students to continue the learning process on their own. Katie has homeschooled her own children for the last 4 years and is excited to share her love of learning with the Albuquerque homeschooling community.
